McNabb had left after 11 highly successful, if not parade-full, seasons in Philly, and the keys were famously turned over to Kevin Kolb. Vick had spent a relatively innocuous, controversy-free season as McNabb's backup last year, and he played infrequently—and less than impressively—when given the opportunity to trade his Eagles baseball cap for a helmet.

Well, some twists, turns, rib injuries and concussions later, and Vick appears to be solidly entrenched as the Eagles starting quarterback. Now, back to DC, Shanahan and a guy named Rex. Things appeared to be going pretty well in Redskins land heading into that Lions game. With No. 5 under center, the Redskins have been in every game, and had even won the previous showdown in Philly, when McNabb returned to the Linc. 3. The coincidental fact that it preceded a Redskins-Eagles game

McNabb had a fine first half: 9-for-16, 206 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and a 101.0 passer rating. Vick's six touchdowns on the night via air (four) and ground (two), a la Fed Ex, were a personal record. McNabb wound up 17-of-31 for 295 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Eagles moved into a tie atop the NFC East at 6-3 with the New York Giants whom they host Sunday night. Vick opened the game by hurling the ball 62 yards into the hands of Pro Bowl receiver DeSean Jackson, who had drawn man coverage from safety LaRon Landry, for an 88-yard touchdown. Hall had teamed with safety Kareem Moore to hurt Vick on Oct. 3 in Philadelphia.

Six plays and 37 yards later, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy took a shovel pass 11 yards from Vick to make it 21-0. As if the game wasn't one-sided enough, Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin leaped over Hall and landed on the right pylon for a 48-yard touchdown from Vick, pushing the lead to a ridiculous 35-0 on the first play of the second quarter. Quick thoughts on the game:

• The 88-yard touchdown was the longest opening play in Eagles history and the longest of the careers of Vick and Jackson. The 28-point first quarter was the most prolific in Eagles history. Philadelphia outgained Washington 280-23 in the first quarter.

• The Eagles' 45 points in the first half were a team record. The 59 points allowed were the third-most in Redskins history, behind 62 to NFL champion Cleveland in 1954 and the NFL-record 73 to Chicago in the 1940 Championship Game.

• Vick surpassed Hall of Famer Steve Young (4,239) for the second-most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history. Only ex-Eagle Randall Cunningham (4.928) has more. Vick completed his first 10 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns. • McNabb's 76-yard bomb to receiver Anthony Armstrong that set up his 6-yard scoring throw to Keiland Williams two plays later, gave the quarterback an NFL-high eight completions of at least 50 yards.

• Ex-Redskin cornerback Dimitri Patterson picked off two McNabb passes in his second career start.
